Getting there: buses, trains and automobiles

Everything about the trip to Whistler went well - the drive to Port Moody in my little Toyota, the morning ride downtown on the West Coast Express commuter train from Port Moody with all my gear, and the bus ride to Whistler. On the bus ride, I chatted a bit with David Anderson, former federal cabinet minister (Environment, Transport, Revenue, Fisheries and Oceans) and 1960 Olympic silver medalist in rowing eights (Rome). This is the first Olympics that he has been to since competing 50 years ago!

Arrival in Whistler also went smoothly - very little line-up at check-in and accreditation and fantastic service by the volunteers in those areas. My roommates and lodging are great.

I haven't sorted out how I'll access the internet to post most of my updates - have used my Blackberry to e-mail to the blog so far. Eventually, I'll get on with my laptop so I can post more photos!
